YARDBIRDS - Over, Under, Sideways, Down.  From 1966, made in Canada, but sitting in Cleveland, OH, USA.  Capitol ST-6202 or The 6000 Series as Capitol/EMI marked it.  Stereo.  Tiny etched matrix reads YAX-3371. Recorded in England, first published in Canada, Sept. 1966.  Mfg by Capitol Records (Canada) Ltd. 
Last year I saw Jeff Beck perform in Cleveland, so the Yardbirds go way back for me!

Side 1:  Lost Woman; The Nazz Are Blue (Jeff Beck sings this one); I Can't Make Your Way; Hot House of Omagarashid; Farewell; Rack My Mind.
Side 2:  Shapes of Things; He's Always There; Turn Into Earth; What Do you Want; Ever Since The World Began; Over, Under, Sideways, Down.

Cover is in pretty good shape except for one stain at the left side of Jimmy Page's head.  Looks like a brown stain that was being cleaned up, but left some light marks.  No ringwear showing on the front and the corners are still in good shape.  The side seam is fine without any flaking and you can still read the band name and title just fine.  Love the very top of the seam where it says:  File Under * Top Teen Groups.  Back cover does show a little darker marks as ringwear and a little bit of darkening of the white cover to a more light brown over at the right side.  So not so bad for a 1966 cover.  The Capitol label is in pretty good shape, too, but the vinyl is something different.  There are a ton of light surface scratches all over the vinyl on both sides.  Even a ton of them in the dead was/matrix at the end of the side.  I couldn't really feel any of the scratches, but you can see them easily.  I played it all through on my Technics turntable with KLH speakers.  Side 1 I heard beginning crackles and into the first song (Lost Woman).  You definitely hear some crackling in-between the songs.  There were no skips or pops, but definitely lots of crackling.  The nice thing is that in most of the songs, since they were strong guitar/drums/etc., it's loud enough to hide those crackles.  Side 2, first song, Shapes of Things, did have a little more crackling than other tunes, too.  Generally, the LP sounded okay in most parts.  In some songs you can adjust the treble a bit to hide the crackles.  I put 3 photos of sections of the record that shows the many light scratches all over.

I can make a sound bite of several tracks that I feel are higher in crackles.  When I do this, I post the sound bite in filedropper.  I can't put a link to it on ebay, but you can email me if interested, and I can email you back the link.  It takes you to filedropper and then tells you to download the tune.  It will open up on your PC and go to your downloads or where ever you have it set to and then you can open it in whatever music program you have (Itunes, Windows Media Player, etc.).  You decide if it sounds okay.

I rate the cover sleeve as Very Good (VG) only due to that one stain in front, otherwise it would be a VG+.  The vinyl gets only a Very Good (VG), too, because of some songs hearing the crackling, more when it's a quieter song.  Other songs were just fine!

Guidelines I use to rate the quality of these records (based on the Goldmine Grading Guide):

NM:Near Mint - Vinyl, still shiny, as if opened for the first time. No writing or stickers on the vinyl. No obvious scratches. Label: No writing or stickers and no fading of the label.

NM-: Near Mint Minus - Similar to NM but will have some very light scratches on the vinyl not affecting the sound quality. No writing or stickers on label and no fading (or ringwear) on cover or label.

EX: Excellent - Not quite a Goldmine Standard Listing, but being used by many now. Cover: No ink wear, minor creases to corners, no seam tears. Vinyl can have scratches, but not felt by your fingers. Sound quality must be mint. No more than 15% of the surface should have wear or scuffs on it. To me, EX is like a VG++.

VG+: Very Good Plus - Similar to NM- except that on the label, there may be a sticker or writing, but it shows very little wear. There may be only a couple light surface scratches on the grooves, but do not affect the playback with noise or skips. You may only see these scratches if you put them under a bright light and really look for them. The cover might have light creasing or minor seam or corner wear, but still in great condition to show off.

VG to VG-: Very Good to Very Good Minus - May not be that shiny anymore and you will see scratches without putting it under a bright light, but they still would not affect the quality of the playback. The sound quality is still pretty good, maybe a little noise, but not enough to detract from the listening experience. The label might have some fading around it, besides having stickers or writing. The cover may have obvious ringwear in the middle or around the perimeter of where the record was, maybe some side seam splits, or little tears at the top or side where the record goes back into. If less defects, then it's a VG. If it has all this just mentioned, then a VG-.

G, G+: Good or Good Plus - It doesn't mean the vinyl is trashed. It plays though without skipping, but may have heavy noise or fuzz sound because of age, quality, or worn-down grooves. Heavy writing or stickers on the label, ringwear is very obvious on label and cover probably has seam splits. But, amazingly, if you have special audio LP recording software, you could probably clean up those crackles and fuzzes, if you want to create a CD of it for yourself.

P: Poor - This is when the vinyl is warped to the point it warps the playback also. Or it's cracked, but it may or may not still play without a skip. If a picture sleeve is with it, this is torn or marked up bigtime. But someone may want to have it for nostalgia or even attempt to fix it.
