On offer here is a very rare LP (especially in this condition!!!!) by Yes called 'Close To The Edge' and is a Stereo UK 1972 1st TEST pressing!!!! THIS IS A MASSIVELY RARE LP AND THIS ONE IS PARTICULARLY SPECIAL!!!! IN FACT - THIS SURELY HAS TO BE THE RAREST YES LP YOU WILL EVER SEE!!!! THIS ONE IS A MEGA RARE 'TEST' PRESSING WITH THE EARLIEST 1ST PRESS MATRIX NUMBERS (A1/B1) AND A MEGA RARE PROOF SLEEVE!!!! WHAT IS PARTICULARLY SPECIAL ABOUT THIS LP IS THAT IT CLEARLY PRE-DATES RELEASE BY QUITE SOME TIME!!!! THE ARTWORK ON THE PROOF SLEEVE IS DIFFERENT (SEE PICTURES) AND THE TEST PRESSING HAS A1/B1 MATRIXES!!!! THE MEGA RARE 'PROOF' COVER - IS A SINGLE SHEET OF GATEFOLD CARDBOARD - WITH AN EXTRA WHITE BORDER SURROUNDING IT (SEE PICTURES). THE COLOUR TONE OF IT IS VERY SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT TO STANDARD RELEASED 1ST PRESSINGS - BUT THE MOST MAJOR DIFFERENCE IS THE TITLE ON THE COVER FRONT!!!! IF YOU LOOK AT MY PICTURES - YOU CAN SEE THAT AT THE BOTTOM OF ONE PICTURE IS THE STANDARD TITLE ON THE FRONT OF A STANDARD 1ST PRESS COVER WITH A 'METALLIC' TYPE BORDER. HOWEVER ABOVE THIS - YOU CAN SEE THE 'UNFINISHED' TITLE ON THE 'PROOF' SLEEVE IS VERY DIFFERENT - WITHOUT THE METALLIC EFFECT AND WITHOUT THE EXTRA BORDER!!!! ALSO INCLUDED WITH THIS LP IS A STANDARD 1ST PRESS COVER - WHICH IS ALSO SHOWN IN MY PICTURES!!!! THIS LP IS SERIOUSLY RARE WITH A PROOF COVER AND A1/B1 MATRIXES, AND IS SURELY ONE OF THE RAREST YES LPS YOU WILL EVER SEE!!!! I WOULD THINK ONLY A VERY VERY FEW OF THESE WERE EVER MADE (PROBABLY FOR REVIEW BEFORE RELEASE BY THE MUSIC PRESS) - AND THIS COULD EVEN BE THE ONLY ONE LEFT IN EXISTENCE!!!! SURELY THIS HAS TO BE REGARDED AS A MEGA RARE 'ONE OFF' OPPORTUNITY - SO DONT MISS OUT ON THIS SERIOUSLY RARE LP!!!! This is the ORIGINAL UK 1st test pressing from 1972 and is in GREAT condition!!!! The Cat. No is K 50012 on the White 'Test' Press label (see picture) and is a 1972 Stereo 1st 'test' pressing!!!! All the tracks are Pure quality Yes at their best!!!! Any fan of Yes, or 60s/70s music in general, will want to have this in their collection!!!!The MEGA RARE 'Test' Press White label record labels are in STUNNING condition (see pictures) with NO wear, NO writing, and only a few spindle marks!!!! There is also a sticker to one side which says - 'A Side'. The vinyl is in STUNNING condition!!!! Most of these 60s/70s LPs had been to a lot of wild parties and are usually found totally worn out, and almost unplayable. This one is NOT and has NO scratches, NO hairlines, and only a few of the lightest paper scuffs only visible under light!!!! ITS AS SIMPLE AS THAT!!!! THE RECORD STILL RETAINS ITS ORIGINAL 'JUST PRESSED' LOOK!!!! It is great to find that the playing of the record is as STUNNING as the visual!!!! It plays with NO nasty loud pops, NO sticking, NO jumps, NO hiss and only VERY slightest isolated MEGA low level touches of background crackle in a VERY few places (though mostly NONE)!!!! The sound quality is simply AWESOME with NO groovewear and NO distortion either!!!! The record must grade Excellent(Minus) if not better!!!! Believe me this record is NOT overgraded in ANY way!!!! I use STRICT RC grading standards - it is not in my interest not to!!!! Brillant!!!! The record also comes in its ORIGINAL White 'Die-cut' inner sleeve!!!! PLEASE NOTE - because this LP was pressed before release - it WOULD NOT have originally had a standard Green Lyric inner. HOWEVER - I have included one from a Standard 1st Pressing of this LP (which is in BRILLIANT condition with NO splits)!!!! The MEGA RARE 'Proof' Single Cardboard Gatefold Sleeve is in GREAT condition (especially as it is only a single sheet of card and easily damaged)!!!! The cover has NO rips, NO tears, slight thickening of the edges (es expected), faint tape residue traces to each corner (obviously mounted on a wall at some point), NO pinholes, slight roughening/wear/creasing to the spine (NOT through the colour), NO writing, barely ANY rubbing AT ALL, and a few creases (mainly near the spine). The other side of the sleeve is plain card. There is NO grubbyness and NO yellowing. This is an EXTREMELY rare 'Proof' sleeve and it really has survived rememarkably well (especially when you consider it is a single sheet of card)!!!! However I DO NOT fall in the trap of 'overgrading' to compensate for the fragile nature of this cover and it must STRICTLY and PROPERLY grade Good++++ if not better - and it is VERY important to note that it has NO splits, NO rips, NO tears and NO writing!!!!
The standard 1st Press Cover I have included with the LP is in GREAT condition!!!! The cover has NO edge wear, NO spinal wear, NO rips, NO tears, only slight corner wear (NOT through the colour), some typical light general rubbing, NO heavy ringwear, a VERY few light creases (cover is VERY flat looking), and NO writing!!!! Even the opening edges are beautifully straight with NO feathering!!!! The unlaminated inside is in AWESOME condition with NO writing, barely ANY rubbing AT ALL, NO yellowing and NO grubbyness!!!! The cover MUST grade Very Good+!!!! THIS SURELY HAS TO BE ONE OF THE RAREST YES LPS YOU WILL EVER SEE!!!! IN FACT THIS LP COULD EVEN BE UNIQUE LIKE THIS!!!! IT WILL SURELY BE A VERY VERY LONG TIME (IF EVER) BEFORE YOU GET ANOTHER CHANCE TO OWN AN ULTRA RARE TEST PRESSING OF THIS LP WITH 'PROOF' SLEEVE AGAIN!!!! THIS LP IS SERIOUSLY RARE IN EVERY RESPECT - SO DONT MISS OUT ON THIS AMAZING OPPORTUNITY!!!!
