Yes is the 1969 debut album from the band, considered among the first progressive rock albums. The original line-up of vocalist Jon Anderson, bassist Chris Squire, guitarist Peter Banks, keyboardist Tony Kaye, and drummer Bill Bruford remained intact for the album's recording. Lester Bangs favourably reviewed the album in Rolling Stone, writing that it was "the kind of album that sometimes insinuates itself into your routine with a totally unexpected thrust of musical power."

Music - prog rock is often sighted as `just complicated time signatures` but when it`s done well like on this album it `soars` with melody and power like no other music can, Yes are so proficient in what they do here, with there early pop background (The Syn, Mabel Greer's Toyshop) mixed with there exceptional musical ability this album is a truly enjoyable prog rock classic and will only grow in stature as more modern bands delve into prog

Trivia - In a news/blog post on 20 September 2010, Bill Bruford commented about the track "Harold Land" - "(Harold Land was a hard-bop tenor saxophone player, dead now, but quite why we named a song after him I can't remember.)" The song is about the effects of war on the named character, and bears no relation to the life of the sax player Harold Land. "Every Little Thing" (starting at 1:55) contains the main guitar riff from The Beatles song "Day Tripper".

Vinyl: (VG) Thick vinyl, Looks OK in normal light, however under Halogen Spotlights I can see lots of sleeve removal marks & some hairlines - nothing feelable! Plays with crackle & noise in places (particularly on `Survival`)   Inserts - comes with rare original `Textured` lyric insert in Ex condition

Sleeve: (VG++) decent condition Original `MacNeill Press` Matt flapback sleeve, doesnt have the usual tearing to the card flap, does have beginning of ringwear, some edgewear & crease, so hard to find this sleeve in any sort of decent condition (see photos)

Labels: Clean labels - does show visible spindle lines under halogen lights
