THE YES ALBUM
Atlantic Super 2400101
1st UK Plum/red press
1971
Machined matrices: A//1 B//1
The Yes Album is the third album by British progressive rock band Yes. The first release to feature 24-year-old guitarist Steve Howe, the album was released on Atlantic Records in February 1971 in the UK, a month later in the United States. This was the album that finally set Yes's career alight, with the album reaching #4 in the UK and, eventually, #40 in the U.S., where it was a platinum seller. This was also the last Yes album for over twelve years to feature keyboardist Tony Kaye until his return in 1983's 90125!!!!!.
Steve Howe appeared with the band for the first time and played a very prominent role throughout. His solo acoustic tune, "Clap" (forever renamed "The Clap" by Anderson's mis-introduction on the live track) has always been a concert favourite of the band and their fans!!!!!!!.
The spacey, electronic-sounding guitar effect in "Starship Trooper" was achieved via a flanger, a device that was relatively new at the time of the recording!!!!!!.
Their first keyboard player, Tony Kaye, preferred the simple Hammond B-3 and piano over the "new" (at the time) Moog synthesizers that Anderson was interested in using. This became a cause of contention within the band and had an influence on the line-up change, bringing in Rick Wakeman from Strawbs and his array of electronic keyboards!!!

The absolute rarity of this album as a first Plum/Red press is not to be underestimated. It hardly ever surfaces nowadays. This is an absolutely gorgeous slab of early quality ATLANTIC vinyl which is in splendid condition!! This has a lovely deep glossy sheen!! Hauntingly beautiful songcraft!!! Immense quality prog album that ticks all the right boxes and incredibly hard to find. I have twentyfive years experience in grading. It doesn't get much better than this!!
THE THIRD BREAKTHROUGH ALBUM. A CLASSIC PROGRESSIVE MASTERCLASS LP THAT SHOULD BE IN EVERY QUALITY PROG COLLECTION - if you cannot buy this you should at least try and get a re-issue and enjoy.
You won't easily find this ultra rare LP !!! It is a genuinely very scarce item in this supreme condition that will shoot up in price, esp. since Chinese collectors are starting to get in now. Get it while you still can!
Please, also have a look at my other prog albums on sale this week
!!!!AN IMPOSSIBLE FIND!!!GORGEOUS EX+!!!
***PERPLEXING SONGCRAFT!!!***AN INSPIRATION TO MANY SUBSEQUENT TOPACTS!!!***
!!!!A VERY HARD FIND!!! Most have been bought up by collectors!! This is hardly offered these days!!
Vinyl: EX+ . A sensational find!!! I have played this in FULL twice over> This is the true official 1st press. The replay is ASTOUNDING!!! I first played for a general listen and a second time for a more detailed observation. All tracks are class. My personal favourites:"I've seen all good people" and "Perpetual Change".
On visual initial inspection this vinyl looks absolutely superb. Still retains its original glossy sheen from new!! This is the original heavier thicker type of vinyl with deeper grooves only found on these original 1st pressings!!! They are also more robust than later pressings which were simply flimsy!!!! Only one wispy hairline can be seen under a strong lightsource. Only rarely any light static can be heard, mainly between the tracks on the silent grooves. This vinyl is built like a Rolls Royce with high groovewalls making sure that the audio is just great. Fantastic songcraft!! I am very glad to be able to report that this is a fine slab of vinyl without any problems at all and as such worthy of inclusion of any great prog collection. Of course NO jumps/clicks/skips etc.
Gatefold Sleeve: EX+. In one word absolutely "STUNNING". This sleeve is matt and usually will only be found with substantial wear. This sleeve has been cared for and retains its original appearance without creases. It has the original shop sticker to the front which i would not attempt to remove. it gives an album its origins and works like the patina on an antique piece of furniture and becomes part of its character. The pictures speak for themselves, this sleeve will be a very hard act to follow!! This is the copy to get!!
Labels: EX+. the lightest of spindle traces only. This has clearly not been played often.
***This is a unique prime investment opportunity!!! Finding this album in any condition at all is nearly impossible!!! This is a great and seriously collectable super album!! You will buy into a piece of prog core history.***
This is a unique investment opportunity!!! The next psych album to go completely through the roof. Finding this album in any condition at all is nearly impossible so late in the day. Get this while you still can. This value of the album is only going to go one way ... up and up ... until it will be totally unavailable at all for a reasonable price.
Important : International postage will be registered and insured if over GBP 41.00. Please wait for my invoice before paying. Postage will be according to Royal Mail rates. Postage is NOT a money spinning exercise for me.
Though there are rarely ever any problems with my items, I always try my very best to describe everything exactly! PLEASE REMEMBER to contact me FIRST, if you have any problems at all, before you leave feedback and star ratings, so I get a chance to turn any negative experience into a positive one! I can always happily sort anything out for you, if you let me know you have a problem! This way no one has to leave Negative/Neutral feedback - and we both walk away happy! Similarly with the amount of stars, anything less than a full 5 * rating is effectively detrimental to a seller's rating as lower ratings will incur higher Final Value Fees and lower priority in the bidlists eventually making it unattractive to list items on Ebay at all. I know of at least one major previous Ebay seller who has decided not to list via Ebay again. Please do NOT bid if you cannot give me at least 1 chance to sort everything out to your FULL satisfaction in the unlikely event of a problem. Thanks again!!
This an excellent investment opportunity!!! Any questions please ask me and I will try to answer soon.
