As of writing this review, heads will have only just recovered from the secret-location YHWH Nailgun show that happened somewhere in London only yesterday. The New York band descended on the city of shards in good time with their new 4AD release Magazine; another relentless post-punk decapitator and generous supply of auditory shrapnel (bits of marrow and fur found in the pellets). As usual with these sorts of buzz-emitting bands - we saw it before with Black MIDI, now we're witnessing it happen again - the drummer is the show-stealer; Sam Pickard's hits double fearsomely with what sound like weird scraping, found guiro sound effects and swampy vocal trills from Zack Borzone. Starkly defiant, running at just 11 minutes, side B is made up of literal silence.
