Ya Ya Choral-What's A Quaver? 1983 Australian experimental electronic MLP. The genesis of Ya Ya Choral was in the post-punk electronic noise band Scattered Order. From there the band become YYC but remained electronic until the mid 80s when with the addition of Urbanik and Kelly, Ya Ya Choral turned to a punk-thrash style. While at times strident and noisy, Ya Ya Choral was able to attract considerable support and strong reviews, particularly for the One Small Step for Mankind set that was by all accounts recorded in one take. Described by the "Who's who of OZ(tralian) Rock" as an "unpretentious
ambient disco band" and by the more rock literary incompetent as the
"dark side of winnie the pooh" .. therefore much misunderstood and
despised by the Australian Music patriarchy. "They don't take it
seriously" ... "wears the drummer ?"... or "they've got a girl in the
band and she doesn't dress like a sex goddess" being the more typical
complaints.
This band did pretty well made some quick $$$ playing to the inner city
crowds and full houses for 18 months in Sydney 1982-83. Home base was
the famous and long gone Sydney Trades Union Club with pals the other M
Squared bands, Pel Mel, Wild West, Laughing Clowns, Reels.... Other
bands not short on irony as well.
For one moment we nearly had a music scene defined by a sense of
post-rock eclectic blending, ... beyond the boogie / four on the floor
oz-rock / detriot stooge-fest or "I was a teenage Ramone" zzzz ... we
nearly had a musical landscape not entirely defined and inhabited by
guys... YYC 1 had no USA ingredients.. mostly European or Japanese. But
then we were left for dead by either boy bands with pointy shoes,
rockstar pants and pageboy haircuts or converse boots and US hardcore.

This is an ex-radio station copy, there is a large white sticker on the front top LH cnr with some letters and numbers in large black felt tip pen. There is a price sticker on the front top RH cnr. There is thick tape along the spine which was used for coding purposes rather than for repair and you may be able to remove it carefully. (I have done this on some other albums leaving just some glue residue.) (see scans)

Beginning life as an experimental electronic outfit, Sydney band Ya Ya Choral became a much-admired, if commercially unsuccessful, hard rock outfit over the course of a decade.

Ya Ya Choral's first release was the EP Such a Dutchman on M Squared in 1982, followed by the What's a Quaver? album in July 1983. Guitarist Michael Filewood, formerly of Systematics, replaced Patrick Gibson for their next single, "Two Lines," on the Red Eye label in August 1985. The next year they were featured on ABC-TV's BeatBox program and videos for "Who's the King?" and "Lonesome No More" received national airplay.

Although the group broke up in 1986, Fiona Graham, Michael Tee, and Michael Filewood revived proceedings in 1987 with a new lineup that included Joanna Urbanik on bass and Dave Kelly on drums. With a new sound that mixed hard rock and pop, support rose as they toured with bands such as Lime Spiders, the Radiators, and Sunnyboys. Their next EP, Grunts, was released on their own Maelstromm label in October 1988, later released as Extra Grunt. Their debut album, One Small Step for Mankind, was released in March 1989. Spurred on by a positive reaction from the U.K. heavy metal press, Ya Ya Choral toured the U.K. later that year. A momentary name change to Fear of Angels occurred in 1990, but they reverted to Ya Ya Choral soon after. ~ Brendan Swift, All Music Guide

M, mint condition, unplayed, with no marks on playing surface and labels as new.
M-, mint minus, either unplayed, with minimum scuffs caused by paper sleeve, or played once or twice only and still as new.
EX, excellent condition, record played carefully, very clean surface, minimum scuffing. 
VG, very good condition, scuffing or signs of groove wear but no bad scratches. Only minor pops or crackles.
G, good condition, well played with plenty of scuffs, light scratches and groove wear.Noise evident but no jumps.
F, fair condition, playable but heavily scuffed or scratched, with a lot of surface noise. Maybe minor jumps from scratches.

Covers:
M, Mint - As New
Ex, Excellent – Very little ware – no marks or worn corners
VG, Very Good  – some minor wear and some minor marks visible 
G, Good – worn cover, may have creased corners, heavier marks, small tears but still complete
F, Fair – cover is worn and maybe torn.
