Yardbirds: Shapes Of Things Vintage Anthology LP 1977 MINT Double LP and Fold-Out Cover - Never Played!
A Double LP anthology album in 1977? Well, for the almost-greatest rock group of all time - Yes. Just think - the Yardbirds were playing this kind of music in the early-to-mid-60s when the Beatles were still singing "I Want To Hold Your Hand." I said, "almost-greatest" because they are actually Led Zeppelin. After Eric Clapton, then Jeff Beck plus Jimmy Page, the band sort of began to fall apart, but Jimmy Page re-grouped what was left into Led Zeppelin. The rest is well-known Rock History.
No other single group in the entire history of Rock had three of the all-time greatest guitarists to ever play. At one point, they had two of them at the same time - Beck and Page! If you're interested, I highly recommend the movie "Blow-Up," starring Vanessa Redgrave and David Hemmings, both all the rage at the time. However, there is one scene in the movie where the protagonist, David Hemmings, stumbles into a night club where the Yardbirds are performing. Both Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page are playing. Beck proceeds to get mad and smashes his guitar, quite a few years before Pete Townsend became famous for doing that. The movie was released in 1966.
This Double LP set is as representative as any of the Yardbirds collection of work.
Unlike most of the LPs from Beezar Audio, this album was never played, a needle drop cassette recording was never made.
** Beezar Audio exclusively used Technics SL-10 and SL-7 linear tracking turntables with Shure V-15 P-mount cartridges and styli when playing LPs. **
