Ok - now that you've read the AI description, let's cut through the fluff.
I am selling these two Beatles records on vinyl. Both are used but in decent shape.
1. Yellow Submarine - This album was purchased new in 1989. Not sure which pressing or edition it is but if you're a collector, you'll probably know how to decipher this. The record plays fine with no skipping tracks and there are no major scratches or blemishes on the record surfaces. The record itself could use a good cleaning as there are a couple of finger smudges and probably some light dust particles. Personally, I am not comfortable with trying to clean ANY vinyl record as I consider them sensitive. However, it seems that many of you have developed sound cleaning techniques and are comfortable doing so. I simply don't chance rubbing on the vinyl surface. That being stated, the record is not that bad for being 34 years old. Although all tracks play fine, there is some noticeable static that can occasionally be heard during play, especially on side two. Not sure why this is as I have played that side the least. The inner sleeve is the plastic wrapper type with no splits. The outer jacket is pretty clean with no splits, stains, bends or noticeable abrasions. I would say that any shelf wear is mild and the sleeve still retains much of its original luster. Check the pics and judge for yourself.
2. Early Years Vol. 1 - This album is an import and still has part of its original exterior shrink wrapper. This one was also picked up during the 80s but not quite sure what year. Probably around the same time frame as the other. This album also plays fine with no skipping tracks. If you didn't know already, this album is basically a Beatles concert as it is all recorded live. Some mild static can be occasionally heard between tracks but nothing obscene. I would define it as normal given the age of the record. Additionally, a couple of light pops can be heard toward the last half of the second side. Again, nothing obscene. In fact, it may not even be noticeable to some listeners as I become extra sensitive to any sound defects in preparation of putting these up for sale. As is the case with 'Yellow Submarine', this record could use a good cleaning as well. There are some light marks and dust particles here and there but nothing severe. There are no deep scratches or heavy abrasions. Not at all bad considering its age. The inner sleeve reveals some tanning due to age but has no edge splits. There are two very small tears though. One is near the circular cut out in the center (only one side) and not very long at all. The other is at the open end of the sleeve where the record slides in. Both are about a half inch long. I define these as very mild at worst. Study my pictures and form your own opinion.
The outer sleeve is in decent shape. No splits and as stated before, still has most of its original shrink wrap on the outside. I will caution though, the shrink wrap is a little fragile and could be compromised if handled roughly and there is a small tear over Lennon's face. Again, study the pictures and judge for yourself. Most of it is still there and in good enough condition to probably satisfy a collector. The outer sleeve still retains much of its original luster and is free of bends, crimps, kinks and any staining. There is some slight age discoloration on the backside (which is white) but only in a small area near the sleeve opening and also some darker discoloration near the bottom. I think the darker marks near the bottom are actually on the shrink wrap and not the sleeve itself. It seems that the shrink wrapper has offered some protection over the years. The spine of the sleeve appears to be still in good shape. I am trying to add as much detail as I can think of as I know some of you Beatlemania collectors are ultra picky. Don't blame you a bit. However, I am just a listener and not much of a collector myself.
