Description
Yes......here it is, one of the most highly regarded pressings of this prog-rock masterpiece. A first U.S. pressing of Yes's 'Close To The Edge' and it is simply magnificent! These do come up once in a while but RARELY in this kind of condition. From the first opening notes and as the music becomes louder and louder, you know something is different. Unbelievable 1st press audio! I've heard many pressing of this album and I have to conclude, that this George Piros mastered copy tops them all....Clear, detailed, expansive, balanced, and distortion-free. It blows every other version away.
Condition of Gatefold Jacket: Near Mint.....almost as good as new. The fact that the shrink wrap is still on certainly helped keep it this way. Obviously, the inner gatefold artwork has never been seen. The gorgeous emerald-green colour on the front cover is still vivid and bold showing absolutely no age-related fading or wear. The leather-like texture on the front and back is clearly visible and an indication of a first pressed sleeve. The retail store sticker is still on the shrink wrap.
Condition of Lyric/Inner-Sleeve: Near Mint.....a beautiful example.....No splits!
Condition of Record: Near Mint....absolutely incredible....I think I heard 3 or 4 light ticks during the ENTIRE playback! Visually one can distinguish some very faint hairlines and a few small marks...but these have no bearing on the audio. Both labels are nearly flawless. I have heard the entire album and I can honestly say when it finished, I was simply speechless....it is that good!
