Yurie Kokubu is well known for her work as a chorus member of Tatsuro Yamashita's touring band. Her debut album “Relief 72 hours,” produced by Tetsushi Hayashi, is one of the most highly acclaimed city pop albums of all time. The album has a strong black contemporary flavor throughout, and features funk tunes such as “Snobbish Night,” “Stretch it, Taxi Man,” and “Revolving Door,” city pop songs such as “Koi no Yokogi” and “Just a Joke,” which burst with Tetsuji Hayashi's signature style, and “In Your Eyes” from her second album “STEPS,” which is a twin of the “In Your Eyes” album. The album is a masterpiece among masterpieces with a wide variety of great songs such as “Love Song”, a ballad that is a twin of “IN YOUR EYES” from the second album “STEPS”, and Yurie Kokubu's youthful but solid singing ability.
