Misfits Loony Tunes and Squalid Criminals
1986, UK, Red Rhino Records
Rare mid-80s release LP from these UK experimentalists... with a custom see-through paper bag sleeve and a printed inner sleeve.
Zoviet France (also known as :$OVIET:FRANCE:, Soviet France, :zoviet-france: and latterly usually written as :zoviet*france:) is a prolific ambient industrial music group from Newcastle upon Tyne in northern England. While often dissonant and made of industrial textures, their music is also of a distinctly ambient music bent. They formed in 1981. Their music, often consisting of droning textures set against fractured tribal rhythms and fleeting dissonant melodies, is frequently made from neglected sound sources: obscure radio broadcasts, toy instruments, field recordings, and other odds and ends, often heavily processed or looped. Over time their sound has increasingly incorporated electronic elements but without adopting computer based composition techniques.
The packaging of their early works was extraordinary - records were released in hessian (burlap), roofing felt (roofing shingles), and aluminium foil, amongst other materials.
Rare experimental industrial/ambient/avant garde stuff here. Hard to find when it came out - nearly impossible now. Noise, Goth, Synth, Dark Minimal, Electronic, Current 93, Whitehouse, Mnemonists, Biota, Throbbing Gristle, NWW, Nocturnal Emission, etc.
The cover is VG, some creasing at the top of the bag, some yellowing to the bag itself, minor creasing and some corner wear. Small tears along the seam on the upper right and left sides. All of this is pretty hard to notice, the bag is still in fantastic shape- but when graded on this system it is definitely VG.
Inner sleeve is VG+ with minor corner wear and some creasing on two corners.
Vinyl is VG+, great gloss, a few minor scuffs that should not affect play at all, and one finger print on side one, again doesn't seem to be audible.

RECORD GRADING
We grade conservatively, and aim to describe the records accurately. We grade visually according to Goldmine standards. We use an Excellent grade for the hazy grey area between Near Mint and VG+. This grade applies to records with one minor flaw that makes it no longer Near Mint, but still above VG+.
