Zeta Prism Bass: Rare bass guitar made by Zeta with their original BP-410 quad piezo pickup system created by Richard McClish (http://www.rmcpickup.com/). Maple neck with ebony fingerboard and real mother-of-pearl inaly, alder body. A Fender SCN Noiseless Jazz Bass pickup was added in the bridge position so you can get all the sounds you want. Piezo system is, also nowadays, one of the best ever made and sounds amazing (from double bass to pure fretted bass with that extra crisp à la Steve Swallow). Fine working instrument with all the dings expected from an instrument that old. I'm selling my 3 basses working with that BP-410 bridge because of a new 6 string electric upright bass. There is no "phantom" switch installed but a blend instead and the bass has no case nor gigbag nor bag. Serial # B 085 (one of the earliest).

Here is what they say about it at Zeta:

Prism Bass

The Zeta Prism Bass represents a new direction in the design of a bass guitar. It features our proprietary bridge pickup system, advanced active electronics, a carbon graphite, aluminum and hardrock maple neck, and a distinctive new look.

The Zeta pickup system incorporates four piezo crystal transducers per string. Placed directly under the strings, the pickups provide a clarity and transient response unavailable with magnetic pickups. In addition, individual preamps and level controls per string provide improved full bandwidth frequency response necessary for producing rich harmonic overtones and thundering lows.

Controls include a three-position "Phantom" Pickup Selector which allows switching between a P-Bass-type sound, a Steinberger-type sound, or the acoustic-like Zeta sound. Knobs include a Master volume and two active EQ controls. The Bass control provides variable bass shelving and bass boost in one knob. The Presence knob controls a sweep filter with a frequency dependent "Q" which allows varying the peak response across the mid and high frequency range.

The Prism Bass incorporates an ergonomic design that rests comfortable against the body and is contoured for easy access to the 24th fret. The neck features a unique, open headstock design. In addition, it has a 34" scale, low action, and an ebony fingerboard. Various finishes are available.

The Zeta Prism Bass. A distinctively modern instrument with incredible response.

Zeta Bass Pickup | BP-410

The Zeta Bass Pickup is the first real improvement in bass pickups in over 20 years. The BP-410 allows the true sound of the string to heard as never before.

Placed under each string, beneath the saddle piece, are four transducer elements arranged in a patented orthogonal arrangement. That is sixteen pickups per bass! This gives an unprecedented clarity and authority to each and every note you play. Since the frequency response is so wide (15 Hz to 150 KHz), you will hear octaves and harmonics you never thought possible from your bass. The BP-410 does not sound thin and tinny, like other bridge pickups.

Each Pickup has its own high-quality preamplifier with level controls, so gains for each string can be matched. Extremely long battery life (3,000 hours), a preamplifier for your old magnetic pickups, and low-impedance mono and quadraphonic outputs make this one of the most advanced electronic packages in the world.

The massive bridge assembly securely supports the strings, so all the sound can be extracted from them.

The Zeta Bass Pickup gives you intimacy with your instrument along with a projection of power and detail never before available.

Features:

  • Individual pickup assembly per string
    • Individual pre-amp per string
    • Four orthogonally-mounted transducers in each saddle piece for each string
    • Adjustable gain for each string
    • Frequency response from 15 Hz to 150 KHz

    • Cardioid response enhances "popping" and other percussive playing techniques
    • "Audible-izes" the lowest octave on each string
    • Mono and quadraphonic outputs
    • Exceptional full, rich, clear sound
