This is Savoy Records album S-500 tilted Tenor Sax. I found information online which claims this is the first record released by the Savoy Records label which was an early innovator influential in popularizing the Jazz subgenre of Bebop. This is set of four 10-inch 78 records printed TENOR SAX - Savoy Album S-500 on the spine and includes the following:
- S-5467 - STOMPING AT THE SAVOY - Coleman Hawkins with Cozy Cole's All Stars
- S-5468 - ON THE SUNNY SIDE OF THE STREET - Coleman Hawkins with Cozy Cole's All Stars
- S-5455 - I DON'T STAND A GHOST OF A CHANCE - Lester Young and Rhythm Section
- S-5457 - LESTER'S SAVOY JUMP - Lester Young and Rhythm Section
- S-5463 - DON'S IDEA - Don Byas with....
- S-5703 - WHAT DO YOU WANT WITH MY HEART - Don Byas with...
- S-5436 - HONEYSUCKLE ROSE - Ben Webster with....
- S-5438 - BLUE SKIES - Ben Webster with...
The cover has a bit of staining and some wear and what looks like a bit of dried mildew on the back cover but the records themselves appear to be in very good condition. I don't have a way to play these but they look very good to me. The records are shinny and smooth and are not scratched up. One is a bit dusty but I think this is a good very set. If you are not happy with condition you can return them for a full refund within 14 days. I don't find a date on these records but the Savoy Records label was founded in 1942 so if this is their first record I would date these to around 1942.
