Description
I am listing several records and picture sleeves of interest to collectors so be sure to see my other listings. There are several colored vinyl records, Elvis promos and picture sleeves as well as others. If there is no sleeve pictured in the photos for this item it will be shipped in a generic sleeve...usually (but not always) the heavyweight green sleeve preferred by radio stations and some collectors.
International sales will only be accepted using the eBay Global Shipping program. The same shipping rates apply to these purchases.
There is quite a story behind this disc...in the late 1940s a singer named Delores Evans was working the club scene in Chicago and sometimes billing herself as Little Miss Sharecropper. Her talents were obvious and in 1949 she recorded a vocal with Chicago blues artist Eddie "Sugarman" Penigar titled Easy Baby. RCA Victor released the recording on its newly formed 45rpm format in bright orange vinyl and gave vocal attribution to "Little Miss Sharecropper" in print on the label.
Delores changed her name to Bea Baker and did some recording for OKEH records in the early 1950s. By 1952 she had become LaVern Baker who became the second woman inducted into the Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame following hits like I Cried A Tear, Jim Dandy, and Tweedle Dee.
Here is the very first recording of LaVern Baker...

These early orange vinyl discs from RCA Victor are a treat for collectors. I outlined the story behind them in another current listing.
