Description
in 1978 , the memphis music and arts community teamed up with the memphis development foundation to issue a very limited record called beale street saturday night. this record was a limited presssing sold at local record shops and through various comminty organizations. the cover pictures a black and white photo of beale street in ruins , by the great william eggles ton, liner notes were by the ofenkenokee kid stanley booth, record was prroduced by james jim luther dickinsin, features music by sid selviidge , mudboy and the neutrons , furry lewis , sleepy john estes , little laura dukes, teenie hodges , grandma dixie davis . fred ford, alex, jphnny woods , thomas pinkston .mr ry cooder also was a guest muscian on the lp, cover intact still tight and crisp , record is vg++. i am told that there was only a run of 500 of these pressed and in the mid 80s a lot of the remaining stock ended up in thrift stores around memphis.
