Washington Smith, "Fat Cat"/"Don't Take Your Love From Me" (Rainbow 502). Original label before Okeh. Great, driving soul dance record. Condition: VG++. PLUS: ONE-OF-A-KIND 8-inch metal acetate of the backing track, enhanced by stinging electric guitar and harmonica. Girlie backing vocals remain. THIS WOULD MAKE A GREAT CLUB DJ TRACK, AND YOU'LL BE THE ONLY ONE PLAYING IT. Would work in a northern, mod, or R&B context. Credited to Joey Brooks, who wrote the song and went on from these humble beginnings to become a huge star ("You Light Up My Life"!!!) and who had a bio-play about himself on Broadway this year! Condition: VG (fine for DJ'ing). (I use M–, VG+, VG, VG–, G conditions.)
