Chris Freeman was an Australian virtuoso guitarist in a similar vein to John Williams. The top of his middle finger was sliced off in a car accident and replaced with a sterling silver tip, earning him the nickname "Silver Finger", you can see the prosthetic in the drawing on the front cover, it looks like his own bionic slide. He died in 1992 of an asthma attack aged just 42. Freeman was interested in the Progessive use of guitar technique, and this album sees him combine with John Shaw - a synth-loving arranger (the back cover claims he has the largest electronic music studio in Australia!) - to showcase his talent on twelve original Proggy compositions backed by synth and drums. There are some wave sound-effects about halfway through too.
'EMI Custom Pressing' is more of a description than a label name. The actual labels on the records it pressed varied widely. It was used for short-run and private-pressings such as advertising promotional discs and independent bands. This release is on the artist's own "Chris Freeman Records".
All records are kept in plastic sleeves and will be mailed in professional packaging with stiffeners.
Condition
I grade my records under bright light so that there is complete correlation between how the record looks and how it sounds.
Vinyl: EX+. Music plays wonderfully loud bright and clear. Lovely full sound with bright top-end. No surface-noise. Under bright light vinyl is unplayed Mint-glossy and shows no marks at all, not even sleeve-removal marks. Plays through brilliantly both sides. Labels look like they were pressed yesterday and show very minimal spindle-marking.
Cover: VG++. Stiff and strong. Clean and shiny. Bold colourful print. Corners and edges are all straight and sharp. No edge-wear. Very minimal corner-wear. Back shows some storage marks and is off-white.
I visit the post office every day, so if you're in the UK and want your record tomorrow, just get your order in before 16:30 GMT and choose one of the 1st class postage options and it usually arrives next morning. ( Europe delivery 3 days. Rest of the world delivery 1 week.)
