Description
Peace, Bread & Land Band, "Liberation Music" (1970 private press mono 33-rpm 10-inch). Amazing hippie relic! A Pacific Northwest communal psychedelic folk-rock record in its original ingenious packaging, by a band featuring Sid Brown after his stint with the Spike Drivers in Detroit. It comes in a 10-by-13-inch envelope with printed lyrics, pictures of Ho Chi Minh and Angela Davis, raised fists, slogans expressing solidarity with the people of Vietnam, a "people's financial report" on the expenses involved in making and shipping the record (which was sold by mail for $2, the profit from which was "divided equally between Black Panther Party's Survival Programs, Angela Davis Defense Committee," and some women's free clinics), etc., etc. Vocals by Elaine Brown. Also included is sheet music for four of the six songs. Song titles: The Wheel of the Law, Take It Away, Women's Song, Angela, Playing in the Water, The End of Silence. This is a very rare item and highly recommended! Condition: Record is practically new, with just a small scuff or two keeping it from being M–; most people would call it M–, but let's call it VG+++. Labels are flawless. Sheet music is flawless. Envelope is a strong VG, with a few creases, small stains, minor wrinkles, and one-inch seam splits on both sides near the opening. (I use M–, VG+, VG, VG–, G conditions. All records guaranteed.) See my other auctions for more great soul, funk, northern, deep soul, modern soul, boogaloo, popcorn, Jamaican, jazz, etc., etc., 45s. Selling off a chunk of my collection. Shipping: $8 in U.S. and Canada, $13 Europe, $17 Japan. Insurance/registration by request for an additional charge.
