Title:   “Damaged”

Label:   UNICORN / SST ~ 9502.   Stereo pressing on medium weight vinyl.  Label is turquoise with black text.  Deadwax has “SST Y’ALL  UNI-4-9502” on each side, as well as long sentences etched.

Year:  1981 (originally released.  I am advised that this may be a later press (mid 80s?) based on the insert showing later SST releases).

Condition: 

DISC:  Vinyl is nice VG+ with full original gloss.  Has been played a small number of times and handled with care.  There are several faint marks that produce very soft tics in a couple places, but no loud clicks, pops, jumps, or distractions.  Plays very enjoyably with superb fidelity.  Labels are clean.  A very nice playing copy.

JACKET:   Jacket is nice VG+ with no major problems.   Front and reverse panels are clean and bright, with some light ring wear and tiny cut-out notch at bottom of opening edge.  Light wear and rubbing on seams, spine and corners.  No writing or stickers.  Overall a very presentable jacket to accompany the nice sounding disc.

Includes the original SST RECORDS catalog sheet in top condition.

“Perhaps the best album to emerge from the quagmire that was early-'80s California hardcore punk, the visceral, intensely physical presence of Damaged has yet to be equaled, although many bands have tried.  Although Black Flag had been recording for three years prior to this release, the fact that Henry Rollins was now their lead singer made all the difference.  His furious bellow and barely contained ferocity was the missing piece the band needed to become great.  Also, guitarist/mastermind Greg Ginn wrote a slew of great songs for this record that, while suffused with the usual punk conceits (alienation, boredom, disenfranchisement), were capable of making one laugh out loud, especially the protoslacker satire "TV Party."  Extremely controversial when it was released, Damaged endured the slings and arrows of outrageous criticism (some reacted as though this record alone would cause the fall of America's youth) to become and remain an important document of its time.”
