Description
What an awesome and rare 78 from the Philippines! From 1962, Screamin' Jay Hawkins with Pat Newborn, with Ashes and Nitty Gritty. On the label it says C-6105. This is wrong, because in the "dead wax" it says CHL6121 but the original label has been overprinted with Ashes and Nitty Gritty, although the original C-6105 hasn't been corrected. In my experience, 78s from this part of the world are often hammered to death, but this one is in very good condition and plays well; the shellac is of superior quality, much quieter than the stuff used in the UK. There are a number of scrapes etc and some evidence of play, but for a 78 so rare it doesn't really matter! When will you EVER see another copy?
I must point out that all the records I sell are from my own personal collection and almost without exception, THERE ARE NO SECOND COPIES HIDING AROUND THE CORNER - sorry! If you win more than one item, you will make a saving on postage and I will contact you. Thanks.
