Description
For sale is a scarce early 7-inch Emile Berliner gramophone record.
This one-sided record has the title of the song rather illegibly scribbled on the front "La Gazza Ladra Sinfonee" (?), although the name of the performer and location of the recording is easier to read "Banda Municipale De Milano, Milano". It has the stamped number 50047, the "angel" insignia and reads at the top "E. Berliner's Gramophone Covered by English and Continental Patents London". Record has wear one might expect from a century plus-old record, but nothing too egregious... I have tried taking a photo in a raking light so you can ascertain its condition. It comes in what I believe to be an original gramophone original paper sleeve, but one for a different record, as the song name written on the back of the paper sleeve and on the record do not match up. An extremely scarce early example of an Italian recording made in Italy. This is one of several gramophones from the same collection I am listing this week, so please see my other auctions.
