ORVILLE COUCH
Wild Girl (June 1964)
Here's a rare platter from Texas country singer Orville Couch. He dabbled in rockabilly going back to his days with Dixie and "Easy Does It" as well as Starday Records in 1957 when he recorded "Five Cent Candy." He also cut a few records for Mercury, Custom and Vee Jay, as well as this one-off for Action Records.
This is one of his best 45s and it's rare to find so untouched like this. I really had to think twice as to if I should sell it, or keep it. The song "Wild Girl" has appeared on several compilations, including 'Greasy Rock 'n' Roll' Vol. 7, 'Rock-a-billy Rock,' and the Buffalo Bop CD 'Dry Run.'
The other side of this single is "Midnight Rendezvous."
