this is jimmie martin combo from 1957 rock the bop the flip side is red bobby socks I recently purchased this record at an estate sale in memphis tn. along with several other records. This 45 is on jaxon records 501 it has a sticker on the A - side wich may have come from a radio station because most of the other records i purchased along with this one were promos and dj copies. this one is not a dj copy. it has light label wear on both sides . The record is slightly warped but it does not affect the play of the record. it is not a very noticable warp you have to lay it flat to notice the warp. the record has only light scuffs when played it sounds fantastic there is no background noise the vocal is by ramesy kearney. jimmie martin had been hanging around memphis and sun studios in the 1950s but had no success so in 1957 he decided to start his own record label( jaxon) in jackson tn.to record his newly formed combo. rock the bop was the first 45 recorded on that label .I have even heard that it was actually recorded at sun studios I think this is the only 45 by the jimmie martin combo on jaxon.
