Description
unknown soul demo JOHNNY HAMPTON on Golden State mp3
Up for auction is an unknown soul double sided 10" acetate from the remains of the studio of Leo Kulka of Golden State Recorders in San Francisco marked on the label "Give Me Another Chance" by Johnny Hampton with no matrix number or any other etched info on the disc. There is a copyright date of 1964 of the label itself which I assume has nothing to do with the date of the recording. Also if this is the Johnny Hampton with the rare Northern Soul 45 on Dotty's, this demo would have had to be recorded years before when he was much younger. Nonetheless, this recording certainly has it's own unique raw youthful charm. Please checkout the sound sample which was recorded unmanipulated in it's entirety. The other side of the disc marked "demo" has the same recording but with a few brief moments of light distortion/noise which is difficult to determine if it was in the mix or a flaw created when the acetate was cut, but remains an enjoyable recording. If anyone has any info about this artist or recording please feel free to share it because I was unable to locate anything even after a long exhaustive search. Check it out!
