Description
The long play jazz album "4 Lessons in Jazz" came out in 1952 and featured some of the best jazz musicians of the time. The Australian Jazz Quartet was accompanied by Charles Mingus and Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers. The album was manufactured by AAMCO Records. This was quite an influential album in its day but oddly enough it was never released as a CD so the only way to hear the music today is to find a copy of this record. The most important thing about this album is that it is signed in ink by Charles Mingus (photo 2) on the cover. His autograph is highly valued and usually goes for $400 and up. The 2nd most important thing about this album is the cheesy photo of the school teacher on the front cover (photo 9). I believe this can be catagorized as "kitsch". The signed 1952 classic jazz album is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity stating that the signature of Charles Mingus is genuine. Seller cannot confirm one way or another but it has been in the collection for 20 years.
