Description
1954 Ultra Rare Signed and numbered #5/ of 240 'Oedipus' first edition red vinylite double album of 'Oedipus' by California composer Harry Partch and performed by the Gate 5 Ensemble.
Only 240 of these red vinylite double albums were ever pressed. The records look very good for being almost 70 years old, and they also play very well, with some crackling, of course.
The cover consists of 3 loose pieces of cardboard, apparently this is how the album was originally released. They were probably taped together as an album originally.
These first edition albums were probably put together by Partch himself.
The records appear to have been played not many times. Some light scratches are visible here and there.
This copy of Oedipus is from the estate of George Leite, a California friend and associate of Partch's.
