IKE QUEBEC with "SOUL SAMBA" a great Album, featuring Ike, with Kenny Burrell-guitar, Wendell Marshall - bass, Willie Bobo-drums, Garvin Masseaux-chekere.As sleeve notes say, Ike's tone remains one of the more fulfilling sounds in jazz. few tenor men sound as though they were playing from inside the instrument as Ike does.Nat Hentoff who wrote the sleeve notes expected this Album to be played long after the Bossa Nova fashion had subsided. How right he was in 1962 when it was released!
Cat. No. is Blue Note 4114 (M). Record is graded in Ex. Cond. Sleeve is VG+ Cond. almost Ex. Cond but for bit of scuffing at open end and 3 of the corners. Still looks pretty good however. Recording Engineer was the great Rudy Van Gelder. A really terrific LP from the label. Superb jazz with a Latin tinge.
Always sought after these Blue Note originals. 43 West 61st St.,New York 23 is the address on the sleeve and New York, USA on the label. Fairly hard to get hold of this one, so definitely worth bidding for. Good Luck and thanks for looking.
