Mulatu Astatke & His Ethiopian Quintet: Afro Latin Soul Original 1966 Recording

Worth Records, 1966 No.W-1014, pressed in Brooklyn NY

ORIGINAL COPY OF THE INCREDIBLY SOUGHT AFTER DEBUT LP FROM LEGENDARY ETHIOPIAN VIBRAPHONIST MULATU ASTATKE. MULATU'S POPULARITY SURGED AFTER HIS MUSIC WAS SHOWCASED IN THE FILM BROKEN FLOWERS. HIS ORIGINAL RECORDS HAVE ALWAYS BEEN HARD TO FIND.

RECORD IS VG to VG+ WITH VERY LIGHT SURFACE SCUFFS- It plays with some light audible crackle and fuzz throughout the record, partly due to inferior recording techniques. This is a great album!

COVER IS G with edge wear and rounded corners. There are seam splits as follows: a six inch split from the upper right hand corner, a one inch split from the lower right hand corner, a two inch split centered on the bottom and a two inch split centered on the seam on the left. (Could easily be stabilized with archival tape) THERE IS NO RING WEAR ON EITHER SIDE. A number label is affixed to the upper left corner. Tiny numbers in ballpoint ink can be observed on the back of the cover.  Inner paper sleeve is split.

Tracklisting: I Faram Gami I Faram / Mascaram Setaba / Shagu / One for Buzayhew / Alone in the Crowd / Aalmaz /Mulatu's Hideaway / Askum / A Kiss Before Dawn / Playboy Cha Cha

 VG+ Record

Shows some signs that it was played and otherwise handled by a previous owner who took good care of it. Record surfaces may show some slight signs of wear and may have slight scuffs or very light scratches that don't affect one's listening experience. Slight warps that do not affect the recording are OK. The label may have some ring wear or discoloration, but is should be barely noticeable. The center hole is not misshapen by repeated play.
