Description

Vintage first pressing UK heavy metal lp: BLACK SABBATH - self-titled debut album, Vertigo VO 6, 847 903 VTY, made in Great Britain, gatefold jacket with light texture to front cover, the full text in the cross and misspelling of 'Ossie' Osborne in the gatefold; has 'A PHILIPS RECORD PRODUCT' text on the labels; has uncorrected copyright info on jacket (“Copyright subsists in all STEREO recordings…” instead of VERTIGO) and includes the original UK Vertigo inner sleeve; RUNOUTS are "V0 6 1Y * 1 420 12 C" and "V0 6 2Y * 1 420 12 7", which is throwing me off a bit because all details match the first pressing except for that "12 C", which only appears in the runouts for the second pressing; released in 1970.

More details: First issue released on the ''swirl'' Vertigo label with big logo above spindle hole and the wording ''Vertigo'' below spindle hole.

The jacket cover is slightly textured compared to later issues, and has all the band members and production credits in uppercase text throughout.

Vertigo inner sleeve reports: 'MADE IN ENGLAND British Patent No. 800513 & 973939 - PLASTIC BAGS CAN BE DANGEROUS - TO AVOID SUFFOCATION KEEP THIS BAG AWAY FROM BABIES AND CHILDREN'.

Condition is VG-/VG+: vinyl has moderate scuffing, several heavyish scuffs and a couple of short lines I can just barely feel that cause only light repeated ticks - it plays/sounds EX overall, minor background and occasional areas of soft ticks, and no skips; jacket has very minimal cover rubbing, a few short stress wrinkles along spine and seams, minor rubbing to extremities; back cover has slightly heavier rubbing, three or four thumb-wrinkles along left side, a 1-inch tear to left side, a one-inch dent-line; gatefold has some light rubbing and one thumb-wrinkle. The inner has a 1-inch tear and several shorter tears at hole edges, some rippling and tanning and minor wrinkles.
