2 OLD 78 rpm CHARLIE POOLE COUNTRY STRING BAND RECORDS

OVERALL CONDITION:

There is a STRESS-CRACK on the edge of the 15043 record, which intrudes about half-way into the playing surface. The crack has not yet weakened the record any further. 15043 has no edge-chips or other serious damage, however there is some GREYING on and numerous SCRATCHES & MARKS on both sides of the record.
There are also a few tiny STRESS-CRACKS on the edge of the 15286 record, but they don't intrude at all into the playing grooves and have not weakened the record at all. 15286 also has some GREYING on and numerous SCRATCHES & MARKS on both sides of the record.

The labels are in pretty good condition, except for the "Shootin' Creek" side of 15286 which has some of the gold-lettering worn off and some small scrapes around the center hole of both sides (see scan below). Some of the gold-lettering has worn down on 15043 as well.

PLAYING ON MY PLAYER:

15043 plays quite well with almost NO AUDIBLE BACKGROUND NOISE. The words & music come through very well. 15286 has more CONSTANT BACKGROUND NOISE throughout the recording. The music still comes through pretty well. All 4 sides have the usual snaps, crackles & pops, especially 15286 which also has a few places where the needle "clicks" at a scratch, but there don't appear to be any skips or stuck needle areas on either record.

These are two early Country String Band records on COLUMBIA labels in still quite "playable" condition.
