Description
For your consideration,
I am offering the 2-LP TEST PRESSING OF 1978 LORD OF THE RINGS.
The Lord of the Rings was a 1978 American-British-Spanish animated fantasy film directed by Ralph Bakshi. It is an adaptation of J. R. R. Tolkien's high fantasy epic The Lord of the Rings, comprising “The Fellowship of the Ring” and the first half of “The Two Towers”.
This is a 2-disc test pressing of the soundtrack to the 1978 animated Lord of the Rings. Major music by Leonard Rosenman. I have been unable to find even a scrap of information about the Test Pressing, suggesting that it is exceedingly rare. The final released double-album is known and shows up in eBay. That gate-fold version however is issued by Fantasy / United Artists. This dual-album, Santa Maria Test Pressing is by Columbia with Fantasy/Prestige/Milestone listed on covers.
The Front Covers are white with glued on info page. Both Back Covers are white. Inner sleeves are off-white, acetate-lined with clear-hole centers. Both discs are pristine and have never been touched by a stylus. Disc 1 states (all have paste-on labels) The Lord of the Rings, LOR-1-A, Copyright 1978 Fantasy. Side 2: The Lord of the Rings, LOR-1-B, Copyright 1978 Fantasy. Disc 2 states The Lord of the Rings, LOR-1-C, Copyright 1978 Fantasy. Side 2: The Lord of the Rings, LOR-1-C, Copyright 1978 Fantasy (Note that side “D” is listed as “C” as well).
