Description
A very nice collection of 4 early Johnny Cash lps including the original releases of 'I Walk The Line' and 'Johnny Cash At Folsom Prison'.
All were released on the CBS label.
'I Walk The Line' was released in 1964, catalogue number CBS 62371 and is the 1st pressing as denoted by 1A-1 and 1B-1 ending run out matrices, textured orange centre labels and the early '33' on the centre label rather than the later 33 1/3. The record comes in the original CBS inner sleeve.
'Johnny Cash At Folsom Prison' was released in 1968, catalogue number CBS 63308 and has A1 and B1 ending 1st pressing matrix numbers and the textured orange centre labels. The record comes in the original CBS inner sleeve.
'Ring Of Fire - The Best Of Johnny Cash' was released in 1963, catalogue number CBS 62171. It has A1 and B1 ending matrix numbers though a smooth centre label so i's probably a later pressing.
'Johnny Cash sings the ballads of The True West Volume 1' was released in 1965 and again with the smoother centre label and the inner advertising CBS releases from the early 1970s it is likely to have been pressed around that time.
The records have been particularly well looked after with each having a very nice visual shine and very good sound quality. I have played them all through in their entirety and I would grade all except 'Ring Of Fire' as excellent condition. 'Ring Of Fire' is visually as appealing as the other records it just had a little background sound in places so I would grade that as very good.
The sleeves are generally a very good + to excellent grade with light signs of age and minor creasing. There's a small mark on the front of 'I Walk The Line' where a label has been carefully removed and the one just very slightly behind the others is again 'Ring Of Fire' with a little marking on the back cover.
This is part of a slimming down of my record collection prior to a house move and this is an extremely nice set of lps for their age.
