DESCRIPTION:

Fairly clean copy of Mississippi John Hurt Okeh, but as is the case with many (if not most) copies of this 78, the "Spike Driver Blues" side plays with a loud swish as there was most likely a problem in the mastering.  There is no apparent surface damage on visual inspection other than some light scuffing.  The actual music is strong and clear.  The swish is lessened with a smaller stylus, but will probably not disappear altogether.  Light occasional background crackle on "Blue Harvest Blues" and midway through a milder version of the swish comes and goes through to the end.  A few tight inaudible lam cracks extending 1" from edge on "Spike Driver".  From the Ken Swerilas collection.
