ORIGINAL U.S. ISSUE
UPDATE OF THE PROPHETS' EPIC STOMPER FROM THE ORIGINAL LEAD SINGER
LATER KNOWN AS "THE AMBASSADOR OF BEACH MUSIC", BILLY SCOTT IS FEATURED HERE WITH A 1986 RE-RECORDING OF HIS MOST FAMOUS SONG; "I GOT THE FEVER" HAD - OF COURSE - ORIGINALLY BEEN CUT BY THE PROPHETS (FEATURING SCOTT ON LEAD VOCALS) AND HAS BEEN FILLING BOTH NORTHERN SOUL AND BEACH MUSIC DANCE FLOORS FOR LONGER THAN I CARE TO REMEMBER; THIS REMAKE STICKS PRETTY CLOSE IN STYLE AND TEMPO TO THEIR VERSION, BUT GIVEN A MORE MODERN APPROACH; THERE ISN'T A YOUTUBE POSTING OF THIS NEW VERSION OF THE TRACK, SO YOU'LL HAVE TO USE YOUR IMAGINATION; THE GEORGE SOULE AND TERRY WOODFORD-PENNED FLIP IS A 1974 MID-TEMPO CROSSOVER NUMBER, RECORDED WITH THE PROPHETS FOR AN OBSCURE LABEL CALLED 3-P; THE CHORUS IN PARTICULAR IS VERY CATCHY
