Original 8TH DAY demo acetates. FOUR (4) ACETATES sold together. LOTS of unreleased tracks and variations on song lengths showing how some good studio jamming and "weaker" songs were trimmed for the finished releases. I think these were all cut at the same time so I'm selling them together.

I have not duplicated or distributed copies to anyone (and will not). The winner will be the sole owner of the acetate and the content. LISTEN TO PARTIAL SOUND CLIPS ABOVE

A great chance to own a rare piece of post MOTOWN history.

CONDITION: (Starting in order from the top of the sound file listings ….. ACETATE ONE: VG condition. Light scuffs only. Also the edge is bent. I could not get 1st song (Places) intro to play dependably every time. Could be recorded and fixed digitally with a sound editing program, no problem. The rest of the side plays pretty well but with occasional groups of surface noise. ACETATE TWO: VG condition. First track "Bass Ulagy" is not playable. A small piece of plastic is missing there and edge is slightly bent. That song is a solo bass tune with no vocals. Otherwise scattered light scuffs and occasional noise flare-ups with decent fidelity and complete playability. ACETATE THREE: VG condition. Scattered light scuffs and a couple short deeper marks. Plays OK with occasional groups of surface noise and some regular light noise. Plays completely. ACETATE FOUR: VG minus condition. Scattered light scuffs, not overwhelming but there are also some deeper scratches and some rubbing damage. Maybe the most interesting listen of the four discs but it has some problems. It skipped for me at the end of track one and the end of the last track. There were visible problems there. Some expert may be able to get this to play through for a digital transfer maybe by adding tonearm weight or putting a book under one side of the turntable, or by other means. Still "Tippin" and "Lotta Good Lovin" were really interesting to hear

ACETATES are plastic coated aluminum discs that are cut with a record cutting machine. They were cut as "work in progress" reference discs for the producers of the recording session. If an ACETATE is in good condition it will sound as good as or very nearly as good as a finished record
