A Musical Souvenir of "America on Parade"
1975 from Walt Disney Productions
Excellent condition
Taken from the back cover: "America on Parade" saluted Americas 200th birthday that played at Disney World from June 1975 to September 1976. The Great American Band Organ is the base upon which this innovative music has been built. Creation of the sound spanned months of work and thousands of miles. A search was made for a particular organ. The search ended with Paul Eakins in Sikeston Missouri where Sadie Mae a completely restored 1890 automatic band organ was located. Looking virtually like a keyboardless pipe organ amid all its ornate decorations, drums, horns, and bells, the Sadie Mae required more than 1400 hours to restore her to her former glory. Her list of pipes include 20 trumpets,8 trombones, 17 octive violins, 17 flageolets, 17 piccolos, 20 open flutes, 17 stopped flutes, 17 clarinets, 17 cellos, and 30 bass. "Sadie" operates in a similar fashion as a player piano, but punched-hole cardboard books are used instead of rolls, which were made to the specifications of Disney musical arrangements. When Disney was satisfied, the organ was packed up and shipped to Nashville Tennessee.
