AL COHN
-THE QUINTET-

CORAL 57118
ORIGINAL MONOD.G. / 12" LP

LP is in Near Mint condition.
The thick lustrous vinyl is nearly flawless, withoutscuffs,or scratches of any kind. This lp appears unplayed!
The fidelity is superb, with no distortion, pops, clicks,or background noise of any kind.

Jacket is inNear Mint condition. Original heavy and glossy jacket is in very nice condition. There are virtually no marks scuffs, orblemishes of any kind. This lp is stored in the original factory inner sleeve. "Cool jazz" in the 1950s meant music played softly, with quiet rhythm sections, horn players who had mellow tones, and solos that hinted at swing while adopting the more sophisticated elements of bebop. While it was centered in Los Angeles, some of the finest cool jazz took place on the East Coast. Al Cohn and Bob Brookmeyer make for an ideal team on this 1956 set, joined by a rhythm section that includes the then-unknown Mose Allison on piano. The music may be at a quiet volume but this group swings hard and the interplay between Cohn and Brookmeyer is consistently exciting.
