ADDITIONAL INFO.

Best known for her version of Dinah Washington's 'What a difference a day makes' which reached the US Top 20 and UK Top 10 in 1975, Esther Phillips was born Esther Mae Washington on the 23rd December, 1935 in Galveston, Texas.
At the age of 13 she was noticed by, and joined Johnny Otis' band. Originally known as Little Esther she released two R&B hits on the Savoy imprint, 'Double Crossing Blues' and 'Mistrustin' Blues'. Later in the 50's she developed a taste for drugs (mainly heroin). She signed for the Lonox Label in 1960, and recorded 'Release Me', a song that would be recorded later by Englebert Humperdink. She signed for Atlantic Records when Lenox folded in 1963. She felt that she was too old to be known as Little Esther and renamed herself Esther Phillips, choosing her name from a nearby Phillips Gas Station.   Whilst signed to Atlantic she recorded her own version of the Lennon/McCartney song 'And I Love Him' and 'When A Woman Loves A Man'. She signed for Kudo records in 1971 and recorded the albums 'From A Whisper To A Scream' and 'Alone Again Naturally'. Esther Phillips continued recording, signing for Mercury in 1979, until she tragically passed away on 7th August 1984. (Courtesy of Last fm)

Dear collector, we are the BARRACLOUGH Brothers of CollectableVinylRecords

Sam and I have established a reputation as a TRUSTED supplier of  RARE vinyl, based upon HONEST and THOROUGH descriptions of our items.     Together we have undertaken the task of selling our father’s extensive record collection, which he has amassed during his time as a DJ and MUSIC CRITIC.  It’s a considerable, and unique vinyl collection of albums and singles with many rare items included.  In addition to the known rare records there are many DEMO and PROMOTIONAL items, which were not available for general purchase making them highly collectable.  The chronology of the collection stretches from the early 1960s to the early 1980s.   Within this period, there is a concentration of records released between 1965 and 1969 - a seminal era for music that is reflected by its collectability.    Although the spectrum of musical genre is varied, this collection heavily features PSYCHEDELIC, FREAKBEAT, PUNK, MOTOWN and NORTHERN SOUL.

If you have any questions concerning this item or wish to enquire about my record collection please contact me by asking a question via EBAY or EMAIL ~ collectablevinylrecords@gmail.com. We will aim to reply within 24 HOURS where possible.

GRADING POLICY””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””

We have a data-based collection, using the RARE RECORD PRICE GUIDES' grading scale (If you are unaware of this grading system please don’t hesitate to contact me and I will reply as soon as possible with the guides description). As you can see in the description there is a grading given for VINYL and AUDIO QUALITY.  This is necessary because a record may seem poor quality when viewed, but when played the AUDIO QUALITY is often excellent.  Conversely the VINYL QUALITY may seem excellent but when played the AUDIO QUALITY can be quite poor.

REFUND POLICY”””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””

We will offer a FULL REFUND (INCLUDING P + P) if you find that any of the gradings (OUTER SLEEVE, LABEL, VINYL or AUDIO QUALITY) given in the listing do not match the description of RARE RECORD COLLECTOR GRADING SYSTEM.  A FULL REFUND (INCLUDING P + P) policy prohibits scammers, but more importantly ensures our TRUE COLLECTORS will have complete piece of mind.  As you can see by my feedback, we have attained a STRONG REPUTATION based upon the ACCURACY of my description, COMMUNICATION with clients and a quick and PROFESSIONAL postage.  So, in the unlikely event that you are dissatisfied, please notify me within 48 HOURS of receipt that you are returning the record and we will deposit your refund via PAYPAL.
