Description

Here's a rare audiophile pressing of Carl Orff's Carmina Burana performed by the Atlanta Symphony and Chorus conducted by Robert Shaw. Featured singers include Judith Blegen, Hakan Hagegard and William Brown. Also included is Hindemith Symphonic Metamorphosis. This 2 LP Telarc release (10056/57) was pressed in Germany. This is the original pressing, not the recent reissue.

This was pressed in limited quantities, and it appears on many high-end audiophile lists like Arthur Salvatore's list and others.

Condition - The gatefold jacket looks pretty nice from the front, but shows significant wear around the edges, particularly in the form of splits at the top and bottom. Overall the jacket grades at VG-. Sides one, three and four, look shiny and generally unmarked, but they need to be cleaned for dust and fingerprints. Those sides grade at Near Mint Minus. Side three is also generally shiny with some dust, but it has some unsightly marks that are long, but apparently not deep. I listened to side two and heard some light noise at some points in the marks, but the noise did not seem heavy or consistent. Side two of the record grades at VG+. The original insert is included in excellent condition.

Regarding shipping - I use new high quality materials and pack carefully. When possible, I can combine shipping.

Regarding grading - I try to grade by Goldmine standards. I do not use the grade Mint on records that have been unsealed - the highest grade I give to unsealed records is Near Mint. Grading on this auction is strictly by sight.
