Description
Up for auction is a stereo copy of A Hard Day’s Night by The Beatles, released in 1964 on Parlophone cat no PCS 3058. This copy seems to be the very first stereo pressing, with black/yellow logo, “Parlophone Co” rim text and titles in “chubby” font. Very few copies would have been pressed in stereo in 1964 compared with the mono pressing, and the 1 L stamper number for side 2 would seem to bear this out (side 1 has a less enticing 3 RD stamper).
Condition: some large marks on side 1 which look nasty but don’t affect play as much as one might expect. Side 2 is better, and again sounds fine. A little spindle wear to side 2, and a small name written in the Parlophone logo. Cover has some general wear and a 2” tear on lower seam. It also has what I assume is the original 19/6 price sticker! G+ all round.
