Description
Here is an ultra-rare 1973 EXPORT CONTRACT PRESSING of the Hey Jude vinyl LP by The Beatles on the light green APPLE label, catalogue number CPCS 106. Some of these export albums were made available to buy in the UK in the EMI-owned HMV chain of record shops circa 1974, where I picked up a standard EMI export pressing around that time. These contract press versions were probably not made widely available in that way in the UK and are very scarce. It does not have the usual EMI mothers & stampers in the run-out grooves identifying it as a contract pressing. It has the distinctive export only matrix numbers: YEEX 150-1 for Side 1 and YEEX 151-1 for Side 2.
The vinyl is in nice VG+ shape and retains a nice shine with a few light marks here and there. It plays through well with no jumps or sticks etc but with some occasional background noise. The laminated Garrod & Lofthouse cover does have some creasing here and there and a little laminate lift. A very nice copy of a genuine rarity. Low start price!
