Another from my personal collection of Beatles records, collected over a period of more than 45 years. I will be listing more Beatles records from my collection in the next few days all will be very collectable and desirable originals! So please bookmark my site! Very rare to see 1st UK Beatles records in virtually unplayed condition like this one! The vinyl and cover looks like it has just been brought home from the shop in my opinion! The vinyl's playing surface looks totaly in unplayed condition! Rare original archive copy, 45 years old like this, and the earliest 1st issue 1st UK pressing!

"Let It Be" is a song written by Paul McCartney (credited to Lennon/McCartney), released by The Beatles as a single in March 1970 and later the same year as the title track of their album Let It Be. The single reached #1 in the U.S. and #2 in the UK!!!!!

McCartney said he wrote "Let It Be", inspired by a dream he had during the tense period surrounding the Get Back/Let It Be sessions. He dreamt of his mother, and the "Mother Mary" lyric refers to her (Mary (Mohin) McCartney). She died of cancer when McCartney was 14. He said, "It was great to visit with her again. I felt very blessed to have that dream. So that got me writing 'Let It Be'."

It was originally released as a single on 6 March 1970, backed by "You Know My Name (Look up the Number)" and produced by George Martin. This version includes orchestration and backing vocals overdubbed on 1970-01-04 under the supervision of McCartney, with the backing vocals including the only known contribution by Linda McCartney to a Beatles song (but see Birthday (song)). It was during this same session that Harrison recorded the second overdub guitar solo. The intention at one point was to have the two overdub solos playing together, but this idea was dropped for the final mix of the single and only the 30 April solo was used (although the 4 January overdub can he heard faintly during the final verse). Martin mixed the orchestration very low in this mix!.

The single version was included on the 1967-1970 compilation album. Original pressings erroneously show the album version's running time of 4:01, not the single version's running time of 3:50.  Please note! There are four recordings of the song that have been 'officially' released.  HIS SINGLE ON OFFER IS THE VERY 1ST RECORDING!!!!

The Vinyl

This is as new absolutely pristine with (no) visable marks or scratches. Only played one time by me from new. Visually looks in near as pristine condition. The vinyl lays perfectly flat on the turntable and is free from warps!

The Audio Quality

I have played this through two times at very loud volume on a top system prior to listing on my Garard 401 turntable and then on my digital turntable, to record a sample of the A.side. (Please click on the link button below to hear this audio sample of the complete track ''Let It Be'') !  This plays through as you would expect a new vinyl to sound, cristal clear,clean and very vibrant, only heard like this on the earliest pressings, without clicks or pops and no distortion!  minor static i heard only on the A side could be contributed to needing a clean from laying dormant, even though the vinyl looks imaculate in my opinion! Audio graded at least excellent plus to near as mint!

Please note! I always add this disclaimer! I have given my honest opinion as usual on the audio quiality as I heard it and have played this vinyl at a very loud volume. Please allow for very light isolated static tick (not) consistant throughout the audio. Please remember that this is a genuine 41 year old vinyl that would have originaly been played on a 41` year old system! Audio graded at least excellent plus  in my opinion! 

This vinyl has been stored in a case, seperated from the cover and laying dormant for over 35 years. A build up of dirt and dust in the grooves causes static crackle and ticks. A constant clean before each play is highly recomended, this will reduce any static and will enhance the audio quality!

The labels

Feature the 'DARK APPLE' for side A. (only 1st press) And 'SOLID CENTERS'(only 1st press) very hard to see any visable signs that this vinyl has been played! Only on side b. can just one feint spider trace barely be seen when angled to the light only!

The sleeve.

This is the original APPLE RECORDS picture sleeve 1st issue, matt finish (semi sheen) with flip backs at the rear  incredibly hard to find in top condition. If any one knows being primarily black in colour they are often found in a terrible state!!! There is no real through creasings or storageware to mention,  (no) splits or tares ! any minute blemishes or crease lines are minute and you would have to scrutinise this to notice any! Of course there are no nasty names written.  This cover is exceptional in almost as new condition and the original 37 years old, again this looks like it has virtually just come from the shop! It is important to note that the vinyl has always been stored seperately from the cover for protection. This is how I have always stored my records!! This cover is graded at least excellent plus to very near mint!!
