THE BEATLES PLEASE PLEASE ME 1963 RED PARLOPHONE 45-R 4983

 

On offer is The BEATLES 45 rpm single entitled PLEASE PLEASE ME c/w  ASK ME WHY released in the UK on (red) PARLOPHONE R 4983 in 1963. Both songs on this release are credited to ‘McCartney-Lennon’.   This 45 is on the UK red & silver Parlophone label: 45-R4983. The labels have the DICK JAMES MUSIC CO LTD text but do not have the 'Made In Gt. Britain' text. The 'MPT' tax/price codes are just visible on the 'Ask Me 'Why' label. 'MPT' codes are stamped in each run-out. The stampers are 4/GR and 1/M and the matrix numbers are -  7XCE 17217-1N & 7XCE 17218-1N. The 45 comes housed in its original PARLOPHONE (Type A) label sleeve.

 

CONDITION – The labels have some writing on – the initials CM and JPG on the PLEASE PLEASE ME label – and J on the ASK ME WHY. The A side label has some slight label damage to the lower left of the E in PARLOPHONE (just above the trade mark and Logo). This is not extensive (SEE SCAN OF DETAIL). The record itself plays EX throughout. The vinyl has some minor marks but nothing affecting play. I would grade this disc as below EX (due to the label marks) – but it is a strong VG+. The original type A sleeve is in EX condition.
