Description

THE BEATLES - PLEASE PLEASE ME LP (UK Parlophone MONO PMC 1202, 1963)

This is very rare and very 1st UK MONO pressing of the Beatles debut LP - on the black-gold label - with INCORRECT Dick James Mus. Co. credits on 4 tracks - just a few days later changed for the Northern Songs credits!!!

This is the earliest issue - from March 1963 - with faint MZT tax code stamp on side 1.

The matrix numbers are: XEX 421 - 1N ( on side 1) & XEX 422 - 1N (on side 2)

THIS TITLE APPEARS QUITE FREQUENTLY ON EBAY, BUT VERY RARELY IN SUCH A NICE & SOLID CONDITION!

Cover: EXCELLENT

Laminated front cover has the Angus McBean name CORRECTLY PLACED ON THE VERY EXTREME LOWER RIGHT CORNER - just 1cm from the edge & a bit closer than the last letter in "ME" word! There are NO edgewears; NO writings; NO bend corners - just a bit of wears on the corner tips and a very few, short wrinkles near the edges and one, longer wrinkle on laminate. Very SHINEY & FRESH front has just a 2 micro-thumbnails near the opening edge - 1cm long each. The spine is near perfect - with no wears! The matt & correct, Ernest J. Day cover (with the earliest, thinner flipbacks) has NO creases, NO wrinkes & NO writings - just a 4-5 micro-stains (0.5cm each) near "THE BEATLES" name (as seen on the photo) and mini-wears on the tips of corners. BOTH EDGES ARE SHARP - WITH NO FEATHERING!

Record: EXCELLENT-

Under the bright light I found maybe 12-15 small hairlines (mostly caused by the inner sleeve) and maybe a 4-5 marks which are hardly hearable. THE RECORD LOOKS EX+ or even better! The sound of the music is fantastic - very rich, deep and loud - MUCH BETTER than on the latter, yellow-black pressings! There is also some slight surface noise (very common thing on the earliest MONO pressings) - especially during opening guitar chords (Misery, Do You Want To Know A Secret) & very occasional few clicks. Between the tracks records plays very quietly. The vinyl lies perfectly flat - with NO sign of warping!

Please note: This is NOT a usual, scratchy, matt & "Near Excellent" vinyl, but shiny, fresh & BEAUTIFULLY looking vinyl which plays very strict EX-!!! Just I want to be on a safer side...

Labels: EX/EX-

On the photo they looks a bit dark, but of course the gold paint is still... golden and both labels are very nice indeed! The only flaws are minimal wears near the hole & the small scuff-mark (4mm long) on side 2 label (between LP name and P.S. I Love You title). There are no writings; color fadings or scratches on the surface!

THE ORIGINAL, LINED "USE EMITEX" INNER SLEEVE (IN GREAT CONDITION) IS INCLUDED!

I REPEAT: MY GRADING IS VERY STRICT!

I’m very picky about the condition, so I always tried to find the items in best condition possible (NO VG+, etc.) and my main goal was to have the record covers (especially!) in best condition I could find!

I know it would be cool to starts the listing with 0.99 or at least with 9.99, but in the last 15 years I paid a lot of hard earned cash for my (always cherished and well-cared) records. I know the Ebay it’s a huge lottery, but  I can not risk too much. Please understand my point of view. Thanks.

You can bid with confidence – I’m a collector too, so I perfectly know what does it mean to win an overgraded record!!!

You can check my very positive, detailed feedbacks.

I will happily answer any questions concerning my auctions.

I took my grading system from Record Collector magazine (with EX between M and VG)
