Description
This is an auction for one of my duplicate copies of
THE BEATLES Sergeant Peppers - a STEREO LP in Excellent condition
Produced on the RARER 'ONE BOX' EMI black and silver label.
Serial number PCS 7027
The key feature of this record, apart from the fact it is a desirable pressing, is the fact that it is in AMAZING glass like condition and plays FABULOUSLY, starting with ultra quiet run-ins and then audio which has no background noise whatsoever. It really is that good !!! I have confidnce in describing it as near to mint, with just a couple of spindle location marks to betray an immaculate appearance. It lays absolutely flat on the turntable and PLAYS LIKE NEW!
YOU MAY NOT FIND A BETTER COPY, A BETTER SLEEVE OR A BETTER INSERT than the one on offer here?
- IT IS SO HARD TO FIND A SGT PEPPERS THAT IS NOT WORN OUT OR DAMAGED!
THE VINYL is a 4th pressing on the intermediate 'one box' EMI label and was available for only a very short time following the move from the Yellow and Black label.
Matrix numbers are 638 - 1 637 - 1
Mothers / stampers are :
'a' side GHD -1 (if my knowledge is up to date - the 178th pressing off the 1st master)
'b' side GHR -3 (if my knowledge is up to date - the 172nd pressing off the 3rd master)
Labels carry 'the Gramaphone' text and are clean with no damage and no writing etc. They are just lovely!
THE SLEEVE is in wonderful condition too.
A gatefold Garrod and lofthouse sleeve carrying the patents pending text. The inner flipbacks are secure and have just the slightest of damage** where the cover has become stuck together when closed (for such a long time). Also, there is some cracking of the laminate along the inside gatefold spine.
Until I played prior to listing this record has not been played for over twenty years - therefore the record has not been taken from it's protective polythone slip sleeve during that period.
** I must emphasise that the damage I refer to is fairly superficial - but to be accurate I need to mention it.
Visually, the sleeve is shiny and intact with a superbly square spine. There is MINISCULE creasing under the laminate on the front, a tiny laminate split on the back, towards the spine (a half inch or so - see pic') and the inner gatefold is bright, clean and undamaged - apart from the references made earlier. A superb sleeve that defies its 45 year heritage.
THE INSERT is IMMACULATE - it is as good as the day it was made and shows no signs of it ever being handled or even taken from the sleeve perhaps - wonderful condition.
THE INNER SLEEVE is plain white with 'patents pending' text and die-cut rounded shape to the top and bottom - I think it is the original and it has just some light creasing on the open edge to spoil it - but it is intact, no rips, no writing etc.
In summary - the record is just about to finish playing as I complete this listing - it is a GREAT AUDIO EXPERIENCE - it could easily be confused with a CD presentation, such is the clean nature of the audio.
