The Beatles - Love Me Do / P.S. I Love You. 45-R 4949

The Beatles 1962 1st UK pressing FACTORY SAMPLE DEMO of 'Love Me Do / P.S. I Love You' 7" single. Released on the 5th October 1962, this also comes complete with the very rare original 'URGENT SPECIAL RUSH COPY TOP POP!' demo sleeve. These initial early 1st pressings would have been given out to reviewers and radio stations prior to the actual release date.

The vinyl features the 'Recording First Published 1962' text and both labels omit the 'Made in GT Britain' text which appears on later copies. In addition the catalogue number of this single is '45-R 4949'. The '45' part of the prefix was there to distinguish it from the '78' versions of vinyl produced. Once EMI dropped 78's in March 1963, singles after this date did not require the '45' prefix. In addition, this single has very unusual tax codes stamped into the run out area - ZTMP. The Matrix numbers are:

Side 1. 7XCE 17144-1N ZTMP RR 1 (indicating Ringo on drums and no tambourine version).

Side 2. 7XCE-17145-1N ZTMP RG 1

The vinyl is in VERY GOOD- condition.

Both labels are in VERY GOOD+ condition but 'M. Jones' and '1' have been written on the side 1 label to indicate which is the a-side.

The original 'URGENT SPECIAL RUSH COPY TOP POP!' demo sleeve is in EXCELLENT condition.
