Description

BEATLES UK - PLEASE PLEASE ME- GOLD SLEEVE  -  3rd Press MONO.

1963 PMC 1202 – BLACK AND YELLOW PARLOPHONE LABELS.

A UK LP in 100% original condition, featuring a more unusual 3rd Pressing.    The sleeve is the same sleeve that came with the 1st Press ‘Please Please Me’  LP, the black and Gold Mono pressings, ie the photographers name is printed to the very far right bottom right hand corner on the front of the sleeve.

CONDITION:

MAIN SLEEVE:  is in very good condition,  the front of the sleeve is laminated and there is a large Mono logo to the top front right hand corner.  Some of these 3rd pressings came with a 1st issue sleeve,  ie  the photographs name is printed to the very far right bottom hand corner on the front of the sleeve.  As this is a  1st press sleeve it is made of  thick, heavy card. The rear of the sleeve has tri-flipbacks,  the sleeve is made by E J Day.  The spine is in very good  condition and all the text is readable.   This is a very good original sleeve,  it  looks very presentable for its age.  There is NO Biro writing on the sleeve.   There are Two sections of  sellotape to the  top and bottom flipback.  A previous owner has put a special tape,   ‘magic tape’ as this does not  discolour and leave a yellow residue.  This tape seems to have been put on to protect the top and bottom flipbacks and not as a repair as the flipbacks are in good condition.

INNER SLEEVE: is in very good+  condition and is the original Polylined Emitex sleeve,  it is very white and clean.  The is No Biro pen, stains etc.

VINYL: is in very good+ condition, it is made from the period, thick, heavy vinyl.   The vinyl is clean, dark and shiny, the matrix  nos. are:  XEX  421 – 1N   and  XEX 422 – 1N,  the Mother/Stampers are  ‘ 2    P  P ’  and   ‘ 1  R R ’

AUDIO:  is very good+, it plays really well, there is little  to spoil the  enjoyment  of the powerful, period Mono sound.   The record lies flat  on the turntable and plays with NO skips or jumps.

THE LABELS: are in very good condition,  unusually there are NO letters embossed around the  spindle holes, ie KT or MT etc.    The is  a small  amount of  Blue Biro pen  on either side of the labels, written in  the yellow  ‘£’ sign.     Also on side One only there is a  signature written on the black part of the label, but this doesn’t really  notice.   Otherwise  the labels   are very clean and smart.

***************

Unfortunately as you will see from my feedback,   I have received One negative feedback recently.   This is due to the fact that I followed Ebay policy and reported  an Ebay member for non payment and in turn I have received this feedback !, while this Ebay member carries on trading unaffected !,    I am disgusted that Ebay has let this happen !

To fairly grade the condition of the record, I am using the official grading system from the Record Collector Magazine.

Grading System

The seven standard condition categories and a description of what each one means are listed below:

MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.

EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

POOR: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.

+  or  – :  indicates a grading in between categories.
