BEATLES UK – WHITE ALBUM, ORIGINAL STEREO mispress.

1968 PCS 7067/7068 -  APPLE RECORD LABELS.

A UK FIRST EDITION TOP LOADING STEREO PRESSING WITH A UNIQUE SERIAL NUMBER OF  ‘ No. 0531956 ’. 

The copy has some interesting  misprints, they are:

The text on the label, ‘ Sold in  UK ’ etc on side three has been printed in a  different  ‘font’  (letter style), ie  the letter style on label one, two and four has been printed in the regular ‘chubby’ Sans  Serif font  but on  label three  this text has been printed  in the  ‘ Slender ’   Sans Serif  font !

The record labels on side one and two do not have the text ‘ An EMI recording ’,   but   oddly on labels  three and four this  text   APPEARS  !.

The original  printed text that appears on the main sleeve has been printed more to the right to where it normally appears on regular sleeves,   it measures just 18mm from the side edge,  this text is normally printed 28mm from the side edge of the sleeve !    Also the text  ‘Stereo’ printed  on the  rear of the sleeve, is also printed lower  to where it normally appears on regular sleeves.  The  ‘ Stereo’  text measures 26mm from the top edge of the sleeve, where   on regular sleeves this text measures just 17mm from  the top edge  of the sleeve !.

CONDITION:

THE MAIN SLEEVE:  is in general in  excellent condition, the double album gatefold sleeve is fully laminated and has remained  very glossy and a very fresh white in colour.     On the front it has  an  embossed Beatles logo and a unique individual SERIAL Number of   No. 0531956,    this number appears clear and bold.    To the rear there is the small   ‘Stereo’ text printed proving this to be a genuine  STEREO sleeve.   The records are accessed from the top.   The spine is in near excellent condition and  all the text is   clear to read.

The sleeve features visible flipbacks when the sleeve is opened, these flipbacks are all excellent and well stuck down.  When the sleeve is opened it is very white, glossy, clean and tidy.     There are NO  stains,  pen writing, tears, stickers or sticker residue.  A very clean, white sleeve that’s been  very well preserved over the years. There is a little creasing around the top area of the spine.    See above my notes on the  interesting inconsistencies of this record.

THE INNER SLEEVES: are the two original APPLE black inners and have NOT been   replaced.    One sleeve is in excellent condition, with just  a little edge splitting to two of the edges, but with NO tears.      The second sleeve is in near excellent condition, it has  a 20mm tear on one side of the opening edge and two small tears, 5mm  at the die cut hole, but there are NO side splits.   

THE POSTER: is in very good++  condition,   there is  a little wear to  some of the outer edge folds   and some light age marks.There is  NO pen writing,  sellotape residue,   pin hole damage or blue tack residue,  NO tears,  stains, stickers or sticker residue.

THE PHOTOS:  : are in near excellent  condition  and are the originals made from thick card,  the  photos  have NOT been replaced or swapped. The rear of the photos are still white and very clean.   There is  NO pen writing,  sellotape residue,  pin hole damage or blue tack residue,   NO tears,  stains, stickers or sticker residue.

THE VINYL:  record one, side one is in excellent+ condition, side two is in very good++ condition,  record two, side three and four are in  excellent condition.  The two records are made of the original  ‘ thick and heavy ’ vinyl and are very dark and glossy and  have not seen much play.  

The matrix nos. are:     YEX   709 - 1,  YEX  710 - 1,   YEX  711 - 1 and  YEX 712 - 1.    

The Mother/Stampers are:   ‘ 1    P  D ’,    ‘ 4     H  T ’,  ‘ 4     P M  ’  and ‘  6 L  T  ’.  

THE AUDIO:  is  near excellent, with very little background crackle etc, an excellent playing copy, there is little  to spoil the listening pleasure. Each record lays flat on the turntable and plays  well with  NO sticking or jumps from  the needle.

THE LABELS:   sides one and two are in  excellent+ condition, sides three and four are in excellent condition, as this is a first press  the labels feature the original  DARK green Apple colours.All the labels show   the text ‘Sold in the UK’ etc,  the George and Ringo songs are listed as ‘Apple Publishing’.    See above my notes on the  interesting inconsistencies of this record.
