BEATLES UK – White Album, UK numbered sleeve, stereo.

1968 PCS 7067/7068 - Apple record labels.

An original UK third issue, numbered sleeve, circa 1970 in original condition, featuring:

1. by 1970 the UK Beatles White Album sleeve had become a ‘side opening’ sleeve with a unique ‘six’ digit number printed on the front. The numbering of these third issue sleeves seems to have been quite erratic !, as in general the numbering seems to have started from about 140000 and went up to over 300000, giving this particular copy a low number of 147399,

2. the record labels on sides three and four have a more unusual layout, ie side three, the track ‘Mother natures son’, is printed on one line of text, including the publishing credit. On side four the track ‘Savoy truffle’ is printed on one line of text, including the publishing credit,

3. the record labels on sides one and three have a lighter green colour and all four labels have a ‘matt’ finish to them,

4. although this copy is from 1970, the record labels still read, ‘Apple Publishing’, for the publishing credits to the George and Ringo tracks,

5. the records come with their original circa 1970, ‘Apple copyright’ inners’.

CONDITION:

THE MAIN SLEEVE: is excellent+ condition. The gate fold, two record sleeve is fully laminated. The laminate has retained an excellent clean, glossy finish. The laminate has remained relatively free from much creasing and ‘indentations’. The sleeve is a side opening sleeve. The four opening edges have remained sharp and clean for its age. On the front of the sleeve, ‘The Beatles’ is embossed, together with a unique six digit serial number of: ‘147399’. The spine is in excellent++ condition and has remained an excellent clean white in colour and all of the text on the spine is readable. The text on the spine still refers to ‘PMC mono’, but the mono format was discontinued the year before. There are NO tears, splits, pen writing, stickers or sticker residue on the sleeve. There is a slight ‘water’ mark to the two top right hand corners, each side.

THE INNER SLEEVES: are the original period, white ‘Apple copyright recording’ text inner sleeves. One sleeve is in near excellent condition, with two excellent clean opening edges. There is a 10mm tear to the front top, right opening edge and a small 5mm ‘nick’ to the rear opening edge, top right. There are NO ‘other’ tears and NO pen writing, splits, stains, stickers or sticker residue to the sleeve. The other sleeve is in excellent condition, with two excellent clean opening edges. One side, bottom left there are some light age related marks. There are NO tears, pen writing, splits, stickers or sticker residue to the sleeve.

THE POSTER: the poster is in near MINT condition. The poster has remained an excellent clean white and relatively crease free. The poster is made of quality thick, heavy grade paper with a ‘matt’ finish. Theres NO sellotape, sellotape reside, ‘blue tac’ residue, stickers or sticker residue on the poster. There are three small pin holes to the top edge of the poster.

THE PHOTOS: the four photos are in excellent+ condition. The photo of Paul has some slight creasing to the bottom, left edge. Each photo to the rear has remained clean and white. There are NO tears, pin holes, ‘blue tac’, pen writing, stickers or sticker residue on the photos.

THE RECORDS: record one, side one is in near excellent condition, side two is in excellent+ condition. Record two, side three is in excellent++ condition and side four is in very good++ condition. Side four would have been graded higher but there are some small isolated ‘scuff’ marks on the playing surface. The two records are made from the period, thick, heavy vinyl and have remained very clean, dark and glossy.

The matrix are: YEX 709 - 1, YEX 710 - 1, YEX 711 – 1 and YEX 712 – more unusual a ‘2’.

The mother / stampers are: ‘ 5 G O L ’, ‘4 T R ’ ‘1 R G M’ and ‘1 G H M ’.

THE AUDIO: side one plays excellent, with some light ‘ticks’ to be heard here and there. Side two plays excellent, with relatively quiet grooves. Side three plays excellent+ with excellent quiet grooves. Side four plays near excellent, it plays with some light crackle and some light ‘ticks’ heard, here and there. The audio plays with an impressive, full, loud, powerful period stereo sound. Each record lays flat on the turntable.

THE LABELS: sides one and two are in excellent++ condition, side three is in near MINT condition and side four is in MINT condition. The labels are free from any pen writing, stickers or sticker residue.

BEFORE POSTING, THE RECORD IS REMOVED FROM THE RECORDS ORIGINAL INNER AND OUTER SLEEVES, THE RECORD IS THEN PUT INTO A SECOND PAPER INNER SLEEVE TO MINIMISE ANY DAMAGE THAT MAY OCCUR WHILE IN TRANSIT. THE RECORD / SLEEVES ARE THEN PUT INTO A NEW PLASTIC SLEEVE FOR FURTHER PROTECTION.
