Description
THE BEATLES The Beatles (Apple PMC 7067 / 7068) 1968
Here’s a first UK mono pressing of this rock landmark, as issued in November 1968. The mono mix is strikingly different to the far more familiar stereo mix.
SLEEVE The fully laminated top-opening cover (printed by Garrod & Lofthouse) is in VG+ condition, with light overall wear and a crack in the middle of the spine. The spine wording is completely legible. This is a true mono sleeve (it lacks the 'stereo' text on the back cover, though both mono and stereo catalogue numbers are given on the spine), and is numbered 0515037.
DISCS Both discs are in VG condition visually, with light hairlines and superficial marks. They play with light surface noise and no pops, skips or sticks.
The matrices in the runout grooves read 'XEX 709-1 / XEX 710-1' (sides 1 and 2) and 'XEX 711-1 / XEX 712-2' (sides 3 and four).
Both discs come in their original die-cut black inner sleeves, which show minor signs of wear, but no splits.
POSTER The original, six-panelled poster is intact, and guaranteed not to be a reprint.
PHOTOS The four portraits are crisp and bright, and also guaranteed not to be reprints.
